The Christmas Course is a one-week intensive course designed specifically for 11+ and 13+ students who want to significantly improve their marks in preparation for the independent school entrance examinations.

The course is the brainchild of our founder, Victoria Olubi, who has maintained a 94% success rate since 2010.

The course will be taught by Victoria's team of exceptional Common Entrance tutors.

Course Benefits

Small group sizes ✔

We always maintain a ratio of six students to each tutor. This ensures that each child receives a high amount of contact time and attention.

Thorough tuition ✔

We don't just throw students into a class, we assess them, get to know them and work closely to identify their knowledge gaps. We then spend the duration of the course tackling topics that students are struggling with most.

progress monitoring ✔

This ensures that you know how your child is doing and you'll have a clear indication of which areas to focus on once the course has ended.

Exam technique tuition ✔

This includes lessons on:

  • Speed, timing and accuracy.

  • Resilience and self-motivation.

  • How to overcome nerves, anxiety and exam fears.

interview practice ✔

We cover how to pass the group and one-to-one interviews in depth so that students fully understand how to leave a wonderful impression.

FAQS

IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR BOOKING A PLACE?

Places are based on a first come, first served basis. Once places have been sold, we won't be accepting any additional children onto the course.

What's the difference between this course and the October half-term one?

The October course focuses more on knowledge-building and filling in knowledge gaps whilst the Christmas course places a greater emphasis on exam technique. Often, we find that students understand certain topics in theory but struggle to apply their knowledge in exam contexts. The Christmas course focuses on knowledge application and we teach students how to apply their knowledge in exam conditions.

The course therefore covers:

  • Speed, timing and accuracy.

  • Resilience and self-motivation.

  • How to overcome nerves, anxiety and exam fears.

  • Interview technique skills (including group interviews, school visitation days and 1:1 interviews)

Are mock tests included?

Yes. We provide two mock assessments; one at the beginning and another at the end of the course. The tests enable us to observe how students are performing, highlight areas of weakness and fill in knowledge gaps.

IS LUNCH PROVIDED?

We provide light snacks but students will need to bring a packed lunch and bottle of water with them each day. We recommend including enough food in your child's lunchbox so that they don't feel hungry during the day.

How Far is the school from the train station?

It's a ten-minute walk or 5-minute drive.

Will my child need to bring anything else?

Just a pencil case and packed lunch. Some students choose to bring a dictionary or thesaurus but this is optional.

How Should My Child Dress?

We recommend that students wear comfortable clothing and footwear so that they can take part in sporting activities and learning games.
